Emergency Preparedness

The project we have been doing, that has been getting my boys so dirty is;

Helping Bampa stucco

and build shelving

and paint the shelving
and finally fill those shelves up with food storage.

We now have a year supply of food for all of us at the house. Dad, Mom, Spencer, Benson and Bampa.

We hope to get more of everyday items. For now we used this website to calculate how much we need of the basics.

Christmas 2010

We had a house full of sickies all week long, but We still had a wonderful Christmas.

My boys love to play dress up. Unlike a girl that would dress up like a princess, my boys like to dress up like superheros. The boys were so excited to get these costumes from Santa.
The boys did a good job at taking their time opening up gifts, but they didn't sit in one place long enough to get their picture taken. Here are some of the less blurry pictures of them opening up their gifts.

As you all know Dad works really long hours in December, so he stuck with tradition and slept through most of the gift opening.

New Christmas Tradition.

This year we have started a new tradition for Christmas. The kids get to open up one gift every night, from Thanksgiving night until Christmas Eve.

All right, so how many of you think I am crazy?

Hold judgement for a minute.

The gifts are all the same... well kind of. They are all books. We bought 31 Christmas or Holiday themed books. The boys take turns each night opening up the gift they choose, then we all sit together and read it.
We have been doing it for a couple of days now, and the boys love it. I am glad we did it, and I hope it is repeated in the future making it a fun new tradition for our family.

Mini-golf

On Dad's day off we got to go Mini-golfing as a family.

Dad taught the boys how to putt.
Bop liked learning a new thing.
Burner just liked hitting the ball, he didn't care where it went.

Before we got to the end, Burner gave up on the golf club and started bowling instead.

Cruise

Dad and I were able to take a cruise, the best part about it was that we didn't have to pay for it.

As many of you know, Dad's December work schedule is insane. He works open to close, at the Jewelry store, 7 days a week. Starting on black Friday and ending Christmas Eve. As a Thank you for all that hard work, they take all the management on a cruise every September.

We took a 4 day cruise on the Carnival Paradise.
Our rooms were 3x larger then what I expected. That doesn't mean they were big, it only means that they had a floor to walk on, and the toilet wasn't in the shower.

LA and the Queen Mary.
Catalina Island

Ensenada Mexico

Day at sea.
I give Dad a hard time for laying out in the sun while dressed from head to toe, but the truth is, I wasn't much better. But at least I took my shoes off. That makes it better, right!?

Our towel animals.
I still can't figure out what the one in the bottom corner is supposed to be.

I had a lot of fun, but I missed my two little guys.
They were having fun, and getting spoiled at Grandma and Grandpa FarAway's house.

(Sorry about the pic, Burner did not want his picture take)
Thank you to Grandma and Grandpa for watching the kids so that we didn't have to worry about them while we were gone.

Some Family Pics

While my Sister in Law was in town last week, she took some pictures of our family. I will post more of them when I get the CD (so they can be bigger and easier to see) but for right now, these were 2 of my favorite.

Space Musuem

The Space Museum is right next door to the Air Museum that houses the Spruce Goose. They are equal in price, but not equal in exhibits and entertainment. The Space Museum is lacking and wasn't worth the price, but we still had fun checking out the exhibits.

Dad and his boys!

They did have a really cool park outside that the boys loved.

I love this picture.
Bop and Burner have so much love.
They can be really cute and sweet sometimes.
( Sorry for the low pic quality~ The camera died, so these were all taken with my cell phone)

The Flying Boat

Ever since we have lived her, I have wanted to go check out the Hughes H-4 Hercules also known as"The Spruce Goose" and sometimes known as "The Hughes Flying Boat"
Here is a cool picture to show off its massive size
COOL FACTS ABOUT THE SPRUCE GOOSE

It is constructed of wood.
The plane only flew one time, and it was just over a mile.
It is the largest flying boat ever built,
and has the largest wingspan and height of any aircraft in history.

Here it is on its on November 2, 1947 making its short, history making, flight

Now that you read the history lesson that no one cares about but me.
You can see the cute pics of my family

The boys playing around at the museum

Checking out the planes!

There is a lot more planes to check out other then The Spruce Goose. Here are just a few.
